Every state in the U.S. has different rules, so we handle sales tax for you:

1) How sales tax works on Reflexed
Because we’re a marketplace, we follow marketplace facilitator laws. That means we (the platform) collect, report, and remit sales tax on behalf of sellers in states that require it. You won’t need to figure it out yourself.
Tax is calculated using your delivery address (not seller location). The rate and rules vary by state.

2) What’s taxed & shipping tax behavior

  • The item price is typically taxable.

  • Shipping and handling may be taxed depending on your state’s rules. We show shipping as its own line so the tax engine can decide correctly.

  • In states where tax isn’t required (or for exempt orders), the tax line will show $0.

3) Exemptions (resellers, nonprofits, government)
If you qualify for a sales tax exemption (e.g. resale certificate, nonprofit), you can submit valid exemption documentation. Once approved, we won’t collect sales tax for your orders.
Make sure your certificate meets state requirements—we’ll store it.

4) Invoices and records
After your order completes, you can download an invoice with tax breakdown. It shows:

  • Item amount

  • Shipping amount

  • Sales tax collected (by jurisdiction)
Keep these for your records and for filing.

5) Why we do this

  • Marketplace facilitator laws shift tax liability to platforms, simplifying compliance for sellers.

  • You get more trust and protection.

  • It helps avoid surprises at checkout and ensures we’re compliant with state rules.
